Photoshoot ft. Alice's pig

So I just got some stunning dresses from the London brand Alice's pig!

With as inspiration their great aunt Alice, who not only wore but also made her own enviable looks, and her motto: 'Wonderland is everywhere, so you'd better be dressed for it!" Amanda and Nico design the most unique and extraordinairy clothing worthy of Wonderland!

The thing I love the most about these two dresses is how these dresses aren't only chic and party ready but with the right dressing can go for any occasion because of how comfy they are.

Together with my occasional photographer (I do all my daily shoots myself) and friend Maaike Lust I did a  'Red riding hood' fairytale-esque shoot in the Woods and dunes.

To be fair I don't know what to say more about it, but I also believe the images speak for themselves!

Layering in de herfst

Het seizoen tussen de winter en herfst kan nogwel voor wat fashion mallfunctions zorgen. Zo heb je het te heet en zo heb je het te koud. Zomer kleren alleen houden je zeker niet warm, maar dikke wollen winter truien zijn nou ook niet meteen de oplossing. De belangrijkste skill die je voor de herfst onder de knie moet hebben is daarom layering. Layering houdt in dat je kleren die je normaal op zichzelf draagt over elkaar gooit en zo een unieke look creëert. Niet alleen uniek maar ook net dat beetje warmer.

Third summer shoot: All black in summer!

Black in summer

So all black in summer totally managable if you'd ask me! If it gets really hot it's smart to think about what kind of fabrics you wear though. Cotton, linnen, fabric with little patrons so the wind passes through that kind of items. Another thing people easily forget in summer is the shape of a top. For example this blouse had tiny holes in it, but still the fabric can get pretty hot. This is no problem here cause the blouse is losely shaped. A tight top in summer is almost a guarantee for sweat stains!

Going All black but not boring

Not all people like to wear all black anyways thinking it gets too boring or too gothic. A way to make sure an all black look stays interesting is to wear differt fabrics! In this case the lace from the shorts and little dot print from the blouse. But you've got so many different fabrics to combine: Leather, suede, wool, acryl, cotton etc. or just a print!

Another tip is black is black, but you do have see through or just plain black. If you add a see through piece every look feels just a little less dark. Or you can opt for a piece with holes in it.

Second summer shoot: Polka dots

Polka dotted

The polka dot print is the happening trend at the moment plus uber cute! Especially really fitting on blouses and dresses, pants could be real fun but for a lot of people a bit too much of a good thing.

A lot of people already have problems with wearing print. Polka dot however is a pretty accessible print especially in the tiny variant. It adds just a bit of sophistication without looking like your chanelling your inner Mini Mouse. I like my prints and looks a little out there so I am opting for a medium size dot. 

I do have some tricks I use to stop myself from looking like one big table cloth while wearing prints. Go for some skin. My go too move when it comes to wearing prints on blouses; make it a vneck! The flash of skin is a nice break from the print stopping it from looking like one big front. 

Espadrilles

The espadrilles are a summer love of most and these with the lobsters are extremely cute! They are my first however and although they are quite comfy I am having trouble pulling them out of their boxes.

It's not that I can't combine them, but more that my leather booties are so comfortable that most of the days they are my easy fix while I already know I can walk on those for hours. I will go and try to wear them more them being so cute and all. 

Oh another reason I am having trouble putting them on is; they are white. White and Ella means stains within the minute. 

Hats

The hat in this picture is from a second hand shop: 2,5 euros! So I like hats and I can not lie! Are you out there looking for a hat, but don't want to go all expensive?  A lot of second hand shops like the Kilo shop in Amsterdam have an selection of super cute, super original and not that expensive hats! I know what you're thinking but they clean new arrivals firercly, so don't fred!

Musthave: The redlip

When you wear red lipstick you're done. No more make up necessary! It's my go to look when I want to look freshfaced and well put together, but don't feel like putting on make up ( for me this is anyday and everyday). How many times I have put on red lipstick and have been asked if I had 'special' plans! No way mom! You know it's just me and Netflix! I would never do anything to break our special bond.. *whispers to herself* not that there are many volunteers for these 'special' kind of plans... nevermind!

But what I am trying to say; a red lip rocks any outfit and makes it look chic and sexy!

On trends: The Choker

Okay so I am a choker fan not a big suprise there. I was a big fan when the tattoo chokers originally came to light and still a big fan now. This, like the leather and lace, is a favorite I inherited from my Buffy obsession and at the moment is totally appropriate seeing everyone is wearing and selling them! So yay yay!

From where I sit

Beach dreams

I miss a beach in the sun, shades on my nose and the sand between my toes. Here I only feel the rain and a cold breeze. Luckily I have nice food, good books, soft blankets and coffee.

From the sky✈

I am not afraid to fly. Flying feels weird, unreal, so if I can't believe I am actually flying I can't fear crashing down. I do fear coming home from a beautiful place and feeling numb and cold here back to my daily routines. So I am going to pretend I am on a break here in the Netherlands and will go home in a week or so. To remind me to enjoy the time I have here, while knowing I'll be back in the sun shortly!

In the bag

So when on vacay you can't go all nuts with packing.. something I tell myself as a mantra while stuffing as much as possible in my suitcase.. this year I decided to pack light(er) and make before I go, some picks for possible different looks with the same clothes. Here are a few examples! See how my bathing suit doubles as a cool top? And the same short with a different top makes a whole new look?
